Description
1877-S Five Dollar, AU58
Important With Motto Condition Rarity
1877-S $5 AU58 NGC. The 1877-S is a notable absolute and
condition rarity among S-mint fives. Only 26,700 pieces were
struck, and it is almost never found finer than the present
specimen. Only three Uncirculated coins have been certified, giving
an indication of the condition rarity of the 1877-S. This bright,
yellow-gold example has numerous small abrasions scattered over
each side, mostly in the fields. The strike is strong overall, and
there is good remaining luster around the devices. Census: 9 in 58,
2 finer (2/11).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25X3, PCGS# 8344, Greysheet# 9065)
