Description

1877-S Liberty Five, AU58
Elusive, Low-Mintage Issue

1877-S $5 AU58 NGC. The 1877-S Liberty half eagle is an underrated issue from a tiny mintage of 26,700 pieces. Scarce-to-rare in all grades, most examples seen are at or below the XF grade range. This attractive near-Mint example shows just a trace of wear, with lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces that retain much original mint luster. Census: 10 in 58, 2 finer (11/15).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25X3, PCGS# 8344, Greysheet# 9065)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
