Description
1878 Five Dollar, Sharp MS64+
Attractive Honey-Gold, Frosty Surfaces
1878 $5 MS64+ NGC. Scarcely seen in MS64 or finer, this
high-end near-Gem approaches top echelon of survivors. Vibrantly
lustrous and frosty, two or three tiny abrasions on the neck
truncation are the sole marks to mention on the obverse, while the
reverse is virtually unscathed save for a pair of luster grazes
above the wings. The strike is razor-sharp throughout, and the
first 8 of the date shows broad recutting within the lower loop.
The eye appeal of this honey-gold, borderline Gem is tremendous.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25X4, PCGS# 8345, Greysheet# 8925)
