Description

1878-S Liberty Half Eagle, MS63+
Shimmering Mint Luster

1878-S $5 MS63+ PCGS. CAC. The 1878-S half eagle is scarce overall in Mint State, and examples in MS63 or better grades are rare. This is the sole Plus-designated piece at PCGS in MS63. Shimmering wheat-gold mint luster adorns each side, with minor marks in the fields. Typical strike softness appears on the hair curls around Liberty's face, leaving the border stars sharp. Eye appeal is outstanding for the grade and issue. Population: 17 in 63 (1 in 63+), 4 finer. CAC: 3 in 63, 1 finer (10/24).(Registry values: P3)
