1879-CC $5 AU50 NGC. Considerable luster remains on this AU survivor from a low emission of only 17,281 half eagles, at the end of the Carson City Mint's first decade of operation. The strike is bold save for minor high-point weakness on the hair and eagle claws, and a few stray obverse abrasions do not diminish the appeal.
