Description
Attractive 1879-CC Half Eagle AU53
1879-CC $5 AU53 PCGS. Minimally abraded with attractive color and luster, exhibiting the slightest glimmer of reflectivity on the obverse. As with any Carson City Five issued prior to 1890, the 1879-CC is scarce issue in all grades and one that emerges as a great rarity at the Uncirculated level. Just 17,281 pieces were issued, a figure that would increase substantially in two of the next three years to take some of the burden off the overworked San Francisco Mint. Population: 5 in 53, 20 finer (6/05).(#8349)(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25X8, PCGS# 8349, Greysheet# 9068)
