Description
1879-CC Liberty Half Eagle, AU58
Smooth, Lustrous Surfaces
1879-CC $5 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1-A. A scarce and sought-after
Carson City issue, the 1879-CC half eagle (only 17,281 coins
struck) becomes a genuine rarity in the finer AU grades, and Mint
State coins are out of reach for most enthusiasts. PCGS estimates
only 250 pieces survive, with possibly as few as three distinct
pieces in Uncirculated condition. The present example is
well-struck and has only slight high-point friction. The surfaces
are smooth, yielding luminous luster and light orange-gold color.
Eye appeal exceeds expectations for the grade and issue.
