Description

1879-S $5 MS62 PCGS. Most 1879-S half eagles seen are in circulated grades. Mint State examples are scarce through MS63 and rare any finer. The yellow-gold lustrous surfaces of this MS62 specimen exhibit well struck design features save for the usual minor weakness in the eagle's neck feathers. Scattered marks, especially on the obverse, limit the grade. Population: 40 in 62, 29 finer (8/09).(Registry values: P3)
