Description

1880-CC $5 AU50 NGC. As gold deposits increased in 1880, so did gold coin production. What differed in 1880, though, was small-denomination gold coinages increased as well. As a result, numerous AU and even low-end Uncirculated 1880-CC fives are collectible for type purposes. This piece shows excellent sharpness, despite the slight wear that crosses each side. A lightly abraded yellow-gold piece that offers substantial remaining luster in the reflective fields.(Registry values: P3)
