Description
1881-CC Half Eagle, AU55
Excellent, Well-Toned Example
1881-CC $5 AU55 NGC. Winter 1-A. Orange-gold surfaces are
highlighted with rose and steel-blue. Some weakness exists on the
high points, and the only abrasion of note is at the eye. The
Philadelphia production of this year is the single largest of the
entire half eagle denomination at 5.71 million, and San Francisco's
output of 969,000 coins was its second highest production up to
that point. However, the Carson City Mint only made 13,886 coins,
which Garrett and Guth suggest is because they were only made for
local production.(Registry values: P3)From The KRGJ Collection, Part II.
