Description

1881-CC Five Dollar, AU55 CAC
Conditionally Scarce

1881-CC $5 AU55 PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A. Compared to the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mint, the Carson City's output of half eagles was insignificant at a measly 13,886 pieces. Rich tawny-gold luster with orange undertones surrounds the legends and devices. There are some minor marks as well as a somewhat notable abrasion on the Liberty's cheek. The coin is well struck while light circulation wear is readily evident on the eagle's head and Liberty's hair. At AU55 the issue is conditionally scarce and is seldom seen any finer, further bolstered by CAC endorsement. PCGS Population: 16 in 55, 21 finer (3/26). CAC: 8 in 55, 7 finer (3/26).
