1881-CC Half Eagle, Conditionally Scarce AU55

1881-CC $5 AU55 PCGS Variety 1-A. The only known die pair for a mintage of 13,886 coins. Yellow-gold and apricot patination grace both sides of this Choice AU specimen. The design elements are well-impressed except for the usual weak strike on the eagle's neck. Some minute marks are visible over each side. Very rare in Mint State. Population: 8 in 55, 10 finer (12/13).(Registry values: P3)
