Description
Condition Rarity Gem 1881-S Half Eagle
1881-S $5 MS65 NGC. Thoroughgoing cartwheel luster on this orange-gold 1881-S five would not be at all out of place on a Morgan dollar of the same date. The strike is bold but not full, and the minimal surface marks are largely confined to the reverse. A coin with excellent eye appeal. Gem specimens of the 1881-S five are rare.
