Description
Vibrant Gem 1881-S Half Eagle
1881-S $5 MS65 PCGS. The single finest 1881-S half eagle graded by PCGS (8/07), this radiant exemplar displays enticing apricot-gold surfaces with a few tiny alloy flecks on the obverse. The strike is crisp, and the overall preservation more than meets the high standards of the grade. Only a few faint luster grazes in the fields preclude an even loftier designation. An outstanding survivor from a mintage of under a million pieces.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XF, PCGS# 8357, GSID# 9074)
