Description

1882-CC Five Dollar, AU58
Still-Lustrous Orange-Gold Surfaces

1882-CC $5 AU58 NGC. CAC. Variety 1-A. The substantial 82,817-piece mintage makes the 1882-CC a popular half eagle variety for Carson City specialists and type collectors alike. The entire mintage was struck from a single die pair. Despite the large production, Mint State examples are scarcer than expected. This is a nearly Mint State example grading AU58 with CAC endorsement. Original orange-gold color shows grayish patina on the high points and partial mint luster throughout both sides. A sharp strike makes this coin equally at home in a circulated set or an advanced half eagle collection. CAC: 55 in 58, 7 finer (4/24).(Registry values: P3)
