Description
Fabulous 1882-CC Five Dollar Gold, MS62
1882-CC $5 MS62 NGC. This mid-date Carson City issue has a markedly higher mintage than its neighbors, and as a result, it is more available in a variety of grades than any date that came before. At the MS62 level, however, the 1882-CC five is a rarity, with just six such pieces known to NGC and only one coin graded finer (2/09). This shining example is well-defined with rich butter-yellow color and undercurrents of orange. Scattered wispy marks define the grade, though the coin offers eye appeal more reminiscent of an MS63 or better representative. From The Belle Collection of Carson City Coinage.(Registry values: P3)
