Description
1882-S Half Eagle, MS66
None Graded Finer
1882-S $5 MS66 PCGS. The Premium Gem grade level is as good
as it gets for the 1882-S, a conditionally challenged half eagle
from a plentiful mintage of 969,000 pieces. This is a splendid
example with richly frosted orange-gold surfaces and a razor-sharp
strike on every element of the design. Only a few shallow grazes
and tiny marks are seen on either side, while eye appeal is
exceptional. There are only a handful of MS66 coins extant, and
neither NGC nor PCGS report a finer example. This coin would serve
an important role in any fine Registry Set. Population: 3 in 66, 0
finer (1/20).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XJ, PCGS# 8360, Greysheet# 9076)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
