Description
1883-CC Half Eagle, AU50
Scarce With Original Color
1883-CC $5 AU50 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-A. Ex: Rian's Bequest.
The Carson City Mint manufactured 12,598 half eagles in 1883, and
about 1% of that total survives -- perhaps 100 to 130 coins. Few
retain such attractive, original-looking surfaces as this AU50
representative. Reddish accents around the borders and devices join
orange-gold color overall. High-point softness is expected, and the
design remains strong for the grade. Population: 14 in 50, 59
finer. CAC: 3 in 50, 20 finer (11/21).From The Rian's Bequest Collection. (Registry values: P3)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XL, PCGS# 8362, Greysheet# 9077)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
