High-End 1883-CC Half Eagle, AU58

1883-CC $5 AU58 NGC. A solid AU example with rich luster and deep orange-gold color. The strike is bold and the fields and devices are clean. A very scarce Carson City issue with an original mintage of only 12,958 pieces with most known survivors grading VF or XF at best. Mint State examples are decidedly rare and PCGS and NGC together have graded only eight examples finer, and this is certainly a high-end AU58 (11/07).(Registry values: P3)
