1883-CC $5 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-A. A small mintage of only 12,598 half eagles was accomplished in 1883, almost all of which experienced extensive circulation. This near-Mint example is a rarity, and represents an important opportunity for the Carson City gold enthusiast. Remnants of original luster illuminate honey and rose-gold hues on each side, while the strike is sharp and has been subjected to only slight friction. No major abrasions are observed. Population: 19 in 58, 4 finer (10/14).(Registry values: P3)
