Description

Rare MS61 1883-CC Five Dollar
Listed as Second Finest Known

1883-CC $5 MS61 NGC. Variety 1-A. While the usually encountered 1883-CC five is heavily marked, this particular example shows only a few small, scattered abrasions. This is especially surprising considering the MS61 grade, a grade normally associated with heavily bagmarks. The 1883-CC is one of the rarest CC fives and this is one of the finest examples known. The coin shows bright reddish-gold color and the striking definition is complete throughout. Listed as the second finest coin on Doug Winter's Condition Census.
