Description

Attractive 1884-CC Half Eagle, AU58

1884-CC $5 AU58 NGC. At first glance, this piece appears to be uncirculated, and even under close inspection the surfaces fail to reveal any noteworthy highpoint wear. Rich orange-gold toning increases the coin's eye appeal, along with shimmering mint luster. Garrett and Guth (2006) note that this issue is reasonably available in AU condition, but is very rare in Mint State. Census: 43 in 58, 3 finer (7/08). (Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XP, PCGS# 8365, Greysheet# 9079)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
