Description

1884-S Half Eagle, MS64
Scarce Issue in High Grade

1884-S $5 MS64 NGC. CAC. The 1884-S half eagle is a rare, underrated date in high grades. According to Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth, "These half eagles represent some of the more undervalued coins in the U.S. gold series." The present coin is a delightful Choice specimen, with a razor-sharp strike and vibrant mint luster. The pleasing yellow-gold surfaces show no mentionable distractions. Census: 21 in 64, 2 finer (6/14).
