Rare 1889 Select Five Dollar

1889 $5 MS63 NGC. The 1889, from a mintage of 7,520 circulation strikes, is rare in all grades. This Select example was crisply impressed by the dies, save for softness in the upper part of the bun and adjacent stars. Lustrous brass-gold surfaces reveal a few minute marks that prevent a higher grade. Census: 7 in 63, 2 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P3)
