Description

1890 Half Eagle, MS62
Conditionally Rare Low-Mintage Issue

1890 $5 MS62 NGC. CAC. A mere 4,240 half eagles were struck for circulation in 1890. Given that low figure, it is not surprising that there are few Mint State survivors. This piece displays canary-gold color and good luster. The strike produced a pleasing level of detail. The piece exhibits the typical abrasions for the grade level. Census: 3 in 62, 3 finer (5/13).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25Y2, PCGS# 8375, Greysheet# 8936)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
