Description

1890-CC Five Dollar, MS62
Accessible Carson City Issue

1890-CC $5 MS62 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The 1890-CC provides collectors with an opportunity to obtain a moderately low-mintage Carson City half eagle in mint condition. Only 53,800 pieces were struck, but survivors can be found though MS62 and even MS63 without much difficulty. Abundant frosty luster shines from orange-gold surfaces. Peppered abrasions explain the grade, and the strike lacks just a bit of sharpness over the middle curls and breast feathers, though it is strong elsewhere.(Registry values: P2)
