Lovely 1890-CC Half Eagle, MS62 Prooflike

1890-CC $5 MS62 Prooflike NGC. The first half eagle coined in Carson City since 1884, this issue followed the 1886 to 1888 temporary closing of the Mint. Finally, the Mint ceased operations after its production of 1893 coinage. This desirable half eagle survives from a mintage of 53,800 coins, and retains fully prooflike fields. The central design details are typically weak, but overall, this is an attractive example. Census: 2 in 62 prooflike, 0 finer (8/08).
