Description

1890-CC Half Eagle, MS63
Seldom Seen Finer

1890-CC $5 MS63 PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A. The Carson City Mint produced 53,800 half eagles in 1890, using a single pair of dies. Mint State examples of this issue can be found in MS63 with some patience, but the current coin is a rarity in this grade with its CAC green label. It is well struck and yields frosty antique-gold patina, with a few light marks to determine the grade. Outstanding eye appeal for the issue. Population: 85 in 63 (14 in 63+), 45 finer. CAC: 33 in 63, 13 finer (12/24).(Registry values: P2)
