Description

1891-CC Half Eagle, MS64
Scarce This Attractive

1891-CC $5 MS64 NGC. Winter 1-A. Wonderful wheat-gold surfaces are splashed with regions of white-gold. Luster is abundant, and there are no distracting abrasions. The 1891-CC half eagle is by far the most common Carson City half eagle, and its mintage of 208,000 is 2.5 times that of second place 1892-CC's production figure of 82,968. Still, attractive MS64 examples are elusive according to Guth and Garrett, and this coin fits that description perfectly, with only 15 certifications having claim to better preservation (7/25).(Registry values: P1)
