Description

1892-CC Five Dollar, MS62+
Challenging Any Finer

1892-CC $5 MS62+ PCGS. Winter 1-A. The 1892-CC is most often seen from XF45 to AU58, but auction appearances in the MS61 to MS62 range are fairly common. Finer examples are scarce, however, as PCGS reports only 30 coins in MS63 and a sole example in MS64 (3/26). This MS62+ half eagle displays fully lustrous devices on shimmering rose-gold fields. The strike is slightly soft on the central motifs but is sharp elsewhere. A few light nicks on Liberty's neck and the typical peppering of light marks in the fields define the grade.(Registry values: P2)
