Description
Select Mint State 1893-CC Half Eagle
1893-CC $5 MS63 NGC. Variety 1-A, early die state. Very slight doubling is visible on the second C. This sharply struck half eagle has frosty orange-gold lustre with deeper rose toning along the borders. Doug Winter's research indicates that approximately 60 to 80 mint state examples of this issue survive; however, only about a dozen are known in MS63 or finer quality. This example will certainly be pursued by active collectors of the half eagle series and the Carson City Mint series. From The Harold W. Anderson Collection, Part Two. (#8384) (Registry values: P2)
