Interesting 1893-O Half Eagle, MS62
1893-O $5 MS62 PCGS. The 1893-O half eagle is the most common O-mint half eagle in Mint State, and has the second highest mintage, at 110,000 coins, of any New Orleans half eagle, behind the 1844-O's 364,000 pieces. This is an interesting specimen, with several zigzagging peripheral die cracks on the obverse and somewhat prooflike luster beneath a few scuffs that determine the grade. Numerous other die cracks, if a bit less dramatic, join some of the reverse letters. It appears as though the dies, even in their advanced states, had been freshly polished before this coin was struck. Population: 43 in 62, 9 finer (7/08).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25YC, PCGS# 8385, GSID# 9091)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
