Description
1898-S Half Eagle, Vibrant MS65
1898-S $5 MS65 NGC. The vibrant orange-gold surfaces of this Gem five dollar display a hint of greenish-yellow in the fields, most evident as a "ring" that is concentrated at the peripheries. Both sides exhibit sharply struck devices and each reveals only a handful of trivial marks. The 1898-S is scarce in near-Gem and infrequently seen in finer grades. Census: 11 in 65, 2 finer (4/14).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2007), lot 4639.
