Description

1903 Half Eagle, MS65
Attractive and Sharply Struck, CAC

1903 $5 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Over the last decade of the series, Philadelphia produced only one lower-mintage issue of half eagles than the 1903. With a mintage of 226,870 coins, the 1903 is plentiful through MS63 and with patience can be found in MS64. Finer examples become challenging, especially with CAC endorsement. This Gem displays frosty olive-gold patina on sharply struck devices, and only a couple of small ticks on the cheek and neck limit the grade. PCGS reports only 17 numerically finer pieces (2/26).(Registry values: N2998)
