Description
Attractive MS64 1904-S Half Eagle
1904-S $5 MS64 NGC. Only 97,000 examples of this issue were coined--a significant drop from the levels of the previous few years--and Gem examples are unsurprisingly elusive. This splendid near-Gem example offers radiant luster over lovely orange-gold surfaces. The strike is quite close to full, as expected on S-mint productions of the era. It is perhaps only a hair-thin mark on Liberty's cheek that prevents an even finer grade, but the eye appeal is considerable. Census: 6 in 64, 3 finer (6/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25Z5, PCGS# 8410, Greysheet# 9105)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
