Description
1906-D $5 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Having previously functioned as an assay office, in April 1906 the Denver Mint began coining operations, striking a total of 320,000 half eagles. Although plentiful in most grades, the number of survivors drops significantly above the MS64 level. The present piece features bright yellow-gold surfaces with accents of rose in the fields. This minimally marked specimen boasts a razor-sharp strike and delightful satiny luster. PCGS has certified just 38 pieces finer (7/08).
