Description
1842-C Half Eagle, AU53
Eye-Catching Large Date Coin
1842-C $5 Large Date AU53 PCGS. Variety 1. Although not as
rare as the famous Small Date variety, the Large Date 1842-C is
scarce in its own right. This partially lustrous About Uncirculated
coin displays lilac-blue overtones across the central devices, with
vibrant orange-gold perimeters. Numerous small abrasions dot the
fields, with a couple of larger contacts on either side of the
eagle's head. Slight central softness is a combination of strike
and wear. Housed in an old green label holder. Population: 11 in
53, 25 finer (1/20).From The Brookside Collection. (Registry values: P5)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25SW, PCGS# 8209, Greysheet# 8966)
Weight: 8.36 grams
