    Description

    1849-C Liberty Half Eagle, AU55
    Popular Branch Mint Type Issue

1849-C $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. The 1849-C Liberty half eagle claims a mintage of 64,823 pieces, making it a reasonably available issue and a popular choice of branch mint type collectors. This attractive Choice AU specimen exhibits some light wear on the well-detailed design elements, with a touch of the usual softness evident on the eagle's leg. An interesting die crack travels from the reverse rim by U in UNITED to the lower leaves. The lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces retain traces of original mint luster. Census: 40 in 55, 45 finer (10/18).(Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# C5XD, PCGS# 8241)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
