Scarce Charlotte Issue

1849-C $5 AU55 PCGS. Variety 1. The usual radial die crack is evident on the reverse, extending inward from the dentils by the U in UNITED. The Variety 1 obverse has the top of the 1 in the date separated from the bust. This Choice AU 1849-C half eagle is conditionally scarce and displays strong detail with little wear and no major abrasions. Each side has bright yellow-gold color with slight field reflectivity. Population: 28 in 55 (1 in 55+), 22 finer (4/19).(Registry values: P3)
