    Description

    Nice VF30 1853-D Five Dollar

1853-D $5 Large D VF30 PCGS. Variety 29-V. The 1853-D is the most frequently encountered D-mint five, and as such is the logical choice for a type coin. Even after 30 points of wear the fields still retain much brightness, indicating this must have been a fully prooflike coin when new. The obverse shows a bit more wear over the highpoints than does the reverse, and the highpoints also show reddish patina which creates a sharp, two-toned contrast.(Registry values: P1)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UF, PCGS# 8255)
