    1858-D $5 AU50 NGC. Variety 43-HH. Probably between 200 and 300 1858-D half eagles survive from an original mintage of 15,362 coins. This About Uncirculated example displays copper-orange color with myriad alloy spots, including two prominent ones on Liberty's cheek and right of the date. The star radials are clear and the other elements are well-defined, except for the fletchings. A hint of reflectivity exists in fields.(Registry values: P3)
