Description
NGC 1877-S AU 55. A very scarce With Motto half eagle that is difficult in all grades and usually only seen in lower grades. There are very few survivors in AU. In fact, in Akers' survey of auctions he recorded the appearance of only one coin in this grade at public auctions. Only 3 other AU pieces have been certified by the major grading services (2/93), making this one of the finest, if not the finest, known. Sharply struck with decent luster for the grade. Identifiable by a milling mark on the cheek and another in the field in front of the throat of Liberty. Trends $4100 in AU 50 and unlisted any finer (2/15).
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25X3, PCGS# 8344, Greysheet# 9065)
