Description

1883 With Cents Liberty Nickel, MS67
Pastel-Toned CAC Registry Coin

1883 5C With Cents MS67 PCGS. CAC. The Liberty nickel initially omitted the denominational word CENTS from the reverse, causing some coins to be plated and passed off as half eagles to merchants yet unfamiliar with new coinage. CENTS was added partway through the year. This CAC-approved Superb Gem example of the second issue yields lovely pastel toning and is largely pristine. The left corn ear by the bowknot is weak, but elsewhere the strike is bold. PCGS Population: 30 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N2998)
