Description

Key 1886 Liberty Nickel, MS64

1886 5C MS64 PCGS. The 1886 is the second rarest issue in the Liberty nickel series, trailing only the 1885. This is piece is certainly the exception to an issue that is often seen poorly struck, with dull luster. The only area on this piece that is incompletely defined is the left ear of corn. The mint luster is bright and frosted. Each side is light in color, and there a couple of shallow planchet flakes on each side, a trait often found on 1886 nickels. They are the only notable ripple in the fabric of this impressive coin. Population: 87 in 64, 38 finer (8/09).(Registry values: N1793)
