Description

Key Date Gem 1886 Liberty Nickel

1886 5C MS65 PCGS. This intensely lustrous Gem is a great example of the 1886, a significant key date in the Liberty nickel series. Slight striking softness is noted on the reverse left ear of corn and on approximately half of the obverse stars. The sparkling surfaces are essentially untoned, except for some very faint apricot color on each side. Spidery peripheral die cracks are extensive on the reverse. (Registry values: N2998)
