Description

1912-D Liberty Nickel, MS66+
Exemplary Quality for the Grade

1912-D 5C MS66+ PCGS. The number of 1912-D Liberty nickels certified in MS66 has increased slightly over recent years, heightening the importance of the few examples in this grade that are distinctly higher quality than the majority. This Plus-graded piece is clearly one of those above-average pieces, second to only a lone MS67 coin at PCGS. Lovely pastel hues adorn each side in colorful array, while the softly frosted luster is without abrasion. The usual strike weakness affects the corn ear to the left of the wreath bow, as is nearly unavoidable on this inaugural branch mint nickel. Population: 72 in 66 (8 in 66+), 1 finer (10/19).(Registry values: N1793)
