1883 With Cents Nickel, MS67
The Ultimate Grade for This Scarce Issue

1883 5C With Cents MS67 PCGS. It is difficult to write about the With Cents 1883 nickel without mentioning its predecessor, the No Cents nickel. After the fiasco of issuing a coin with no denomination, the word CENTS was placed at the bottom of the reverse and E PLURIBUS UNUM was dropped. The No Cents nickels were saved in large numbers because of the contemporary rumor that the Mint was planning on recalling them. Far fewer With Cents nickels were saved. MS67 is the ultimate grade at both services. This is a splendid coin that shows an interplay of lilac-green and rose patina with strong underlying mint luster. There are no observable abrasions. Population: 8 in 67, 0 finer (11/18).(Registry values: N2998)
