With CENTS Variety
1883 5C With Cents PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. The word CENTS
was added to the reverse of the Liberty nickel design part way
through the year in 1883, to discourage unscrupulous parties who
were gold plating the No CENTS nickels and passing them off as half
eagles. This sharply detailed Premium Gem proof exhibits impeccably
preserved surfaces, with deeply mirrored fields that contrast
boldly with the frosty devices. Population: 4 in 66 Deep Cameo, 2
