Description
1840-C Quarter Eagle, AU53
First Year of the Redesigned Obverse
1840-C $2 1/2 AU53 NGC. Variety 1. The redesigned Liberty
Head quarter eagles replaced the short-lived Classic Head coins in

Liberty's eye, along with a few moderate obverse marks elsewhere.
The reverse of this orange-gold piece is free of major marks,
although some strike weakness is noted on the peripheral letter
tops. Census: 18 in 53, 68 finer (9/09).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25GB, PCGS# 7718, GSID# 8333)
