Description

Scarce 1841-C Two and a Half, AU Details

1841-C $2 1/2 --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. AU Details. Variety 2-B. This coin has the appearance of an AU55 but it was fairly harshly cleaned on both the obverse and reverse many years ago. It has subsequently acquired natural deep greenish-gold color and the naked-eye appearance is actually quite pleasing. The strike is extremely sharp for this date and, despite the aforementioned cleaning, it is a highly presentable example of one of the scarcer quarter eagles from this mint.
